The Philadelphia Flyers loaned a few players from their Taxi Squad to the AHL on Monday afternoon. David Kase, Derrick Pouliot, Felix Sandstrom, and Matthew Strome were loaned to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms from the Taxi Squad.

The announcement came at 4:45 p.m. EST, just 15 minutes before the NHL COVID Protocol list is released for the day. That gave some hope that the Flyers could see at least one player removed from the COVID list.

But that wasn’t the case.

Flyers COVID list

The Flyers still have six players on NHL’s COVID Protocol list: Justin Braun, Claude Giroux, Travis Konecny, Scott Laughton, Oskar Lindblom, and Jakub Voracek.

Braun and Giroux were added to the list on February 9th. Morgan Frost (who has since been removed) and Voracek were added on the 11th. Laughton and Lindblom joined the list the next day on the 12th. Travis Sanheim, who was on the list since the 8th, was removed on the 14th, but Konecny was added to the list.

Those six Flyers regulars have been on the list for the past week.

If the two-week mark is the goal, the Flyers could see their players slowly come off the list. Tuesday will be two weeks for Braun and Giroux, Thursday for Voracek, and Friday for Laughton and Lindblom.

We’ve now seen two games without the six regulars. The Flyers managed to scratch out a point against the New York Rangers on Thursday night, but they weren’t as lucky against a much better Boston Bruins team on Sunday at Lake Tahoe.

The Flyers next play on Wednesday, once again against the Rangers. Hopefully, they’ll at least have someone off the list tomorrow to be available for that game. If not, there are a few more days before the Flyers travel up to Buffalo for a back-to-back set this weekend against the Sabres.
