Joel Farabee remains on NHL COVID Protocol list for March 5th
The Philadelphia Flyers aren’t getting off easy. Joel Farabee was added to the NHL COVID Protocol list on Thursday, causing him to miss that night’s game. On Friday, Farabee is still on the list.
We’re closing in on the month mark since the Flyers had their first COVID outbreak. Shayne Gostisbehere was an isolated incident at the beginning of the season, but the Flyers had several players on the NHL COVID Protocol list in recent weeks.
Most of those players stayed on the NHL COVID Protocol list for two weeks due to a positive test on the team. The players returned immediately after the two-week mark and only Justin Braun missed a game after coming off the list that day.
Fortunately, there have been a few cases recently where a player is on the list for only two days. Sidney Crosby was unexpectedly added to the NHL COVID Protocol list on Tuesday. He then came off on Thursday and played in that night’s game.
Last week, K’Andre Miller also missed a game against the Flyers after being added to the NHL COVID Protocol list. He also came off the list two days later.
Based on the short time on the NHL COVID Protocol list, it’s likely that those players had a false positive or just a close contact. But that is pure speculation.
Hopefully, Joel Farabee can also be removed from the COVID list after two days. If that is the case, he could return this weekend.
The Flyers close out their three-game series against the Penguins on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. They then return home on Sunday night to host the Washington Capitals at 7:00 p.m. Sunday night’s game will be the first game this season with fans at the Wells Fargo Center.
