Sam Morin Fight Ross Johnston

It’s fight night on Long Island. Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Samuel Morin dropped the gloves for a fight with Ross Johnston and then dropped Johnston with a right hook.

The 6-foot-6 Sam Morin is an imposing figure, and Ross Johnston felt his wrath early in the first period on Saturday night. The two are familiar with other from their time in the AHL and exchanged words before the game. Then, they exchanged punches.

Here’s another look at the punch that felled Johnston.

Morin has had two fights now in recent weeks. He beat Brendan Lemieux rather decisively at the end of the Flyers’ 8-3 loss to the Rangers on March 25th.

After starting the season as a forward for the first time in his career, Sam Morin is settling in a bit back on defense. He now has two fights and scored the game-winning goal late in the third period against the Rangers last Saturday.

The Flyers have been missing a physical presence since trading Wayne Simmonds, and Sam Morin is doing his best to fill that void.

However, Morin may need to make sure he doesn’t step over the line. He had a late dangerous hit on Jean-Gabriel Pageau that was called for interference.

Pageau was okay, and the Islanders scored on the power play.

Morin got the boys going with the fight but needs to keep his game within the rules to not hurt the team.
