Flyers takeaways: Top line dominates, Lyon’s career night, a good reminder, and more
The Flyers and Penguins get right back at it on Tuesday night to close out their season series. The Flyers are 5-2-0 and outscoring the Penguins 29-20 through seven meetings this season.
Projected lines and pairs
Flyers forward lines
Alain Vigneault won’t make any lineup changes for tonight’s game. He swapped Travis Konecny and Jakub Voracek for last night and it paid off nicely. The top line was dominant and the second line created a few goals as well.
Here are the projected lines for tonight’s game.
Claude Giroux – Sean Couturier – Travis Konecny
Joel Farabee – Kevin Hayes – Jakub Voracek
James van Riemsdyk – Nolan Patrick – Nicolas Aube-Kubel
Oskar Lindblom – Scott Laughton – Wade Allison
Flyers defensive pairs
The Flyers are going with the same defensive pairs tonight as well.
Ivan Provorov – Justin Braun
Travis Sanheim – Philippe Myers
Robert Hagg – Shayne Gostisbehere
The three pairs all played fairly well on Monday night. Shayne Gostisbehere saved a goal and scored one of his own, and even Robert Hagg got in on the fun.
Flyers starting goalie
The goalies have been rotating for the Flyers and that continues tonight. Alex Lyon had one of the best starts of his career on Monday night and it’ll be Brian Elliott’s turn tonight. Elliott will be playing in his 500th NHL game as he starts against the Penguins.
