Sam Carchidi: Welcome to Philly Hockey Now’s Flyers coverage

First, I want to sincerely thank everyone for the extremely kind words that were sent my way after I recently announced I had taken The Inquirer’s buyout.

I wrote for the paper for 46 years — 37 as a full-timer, and the last 14 on the Philadelphia Flyers  — and will always treasure my time there. My co-workers were true pros, and I was blessed to be on their great team for so long.

Now it’s time for my second act.

As I mentioned last week, I planned to do more work on the Flyers, and I’ve been fortunate to land at Philly Hockey Now, where I will be reporting on the up-and-down team. PHN is also part of the growing National Hockey Now network which is now 15 cities deep.

I plan to do a lot of interaction with fans to find out what you want the coverage to look like. More stories on prospects? More human-interest stories?  More stories on the front office and what is needed to end a long Stanley Cup drought?
