Dave Scott and Chuck Fletcher, the Philadelphia Flyers’ top two executives, were somewhat forthcoming in Wednesday’s news conference at the team’s training facility in Voorhees.

Fletcher told us Sean Couturier and Ryan Ellis may need season-ending surgery, though he still declined identifying the injuries — as if an opponent was going to target those areas of the body.

Scott apologized to the fans for the atrocious product that is on the ice.

Fletcher told us more high-end talent is needed, and strongly hinted he will deal Claude Giroux if he waives his no-trade clause.

And, then, they both showed they were tone deaf to what the Flyers need to do, showed there is a massive disconnect between the Flyers’ front office and the fans.

Scott said if the Flyers get healthy and make two or three moves, they will be winners next season.

We interrupt this Positive Spin to inform you the Flyers were relatively healthy and had a 12-12-5 record with Couturier in the lineup.
