This is not how the Philadelphia Flyers wanted to go into their holiday break.

The Flyers’ No. 1 goalie, Carter Hart, suffered an undisclosed upper-body injury late in the second period of their 6-5 loss Friday night in Carolina.

Late Friday, general manager Chuck Fletcher said there won’t be an update on Hart’s condition until the Flyers return to practice Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Voorhees.

Hart had relieved Samuel Ersson, who made his NHL debut, earlier in Friday’s second period.

With 2:08 remaining in the second, Flyers defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen pushed Seth Jarvis into Hart as Jesperi Kotkaniemi scored a power-play for the Hurricanes, giving Carolina a 6-2 lead.

Jarvis’ helmet collided with Hart’s helmet, and the goalie went down.

Hart crumbled to the ice and, after being observed by the Philadelphia Flyers’ medical staff, went to the locker room.

The 24-year-old Hart took a 10-10-6 record, a 2.87 GAA, and .911 save percentage into the game. He relieved Ersson after the Flyers fell into a 5-2 deficit with 12:02 left in the second.
