Defenseman Brian Zanetti helped Switzerland go to 2-0 in the 2023 World Juniors with a 3-2 shootout win Tuesday over Latvia.

Liekit Reichle scored the winner in the seventh round of the shootout in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Zanetti, 19, selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the fourth round of the 2021 draft, assisted on the game’s first goal. His shot was denied by goalie Patriks Berzins (27 saves), but Louis Robin put in the rebound.

Latvia, coming off a 5-2 loss to the United States, took a 2-1 lead into the waning minutes of regulation. But Rodwin Dionicio scored the equalizer on a shot from just inside the blue line with 1:56 remaining.

The Swiss will try to upset the Unites States, which has Philadelphia Flyers prospect Cutter Gauthier as one of its key players, in Thursday’s matchup.

Before that game, Team USA faces Slovakia on Wednesday at 4 p.m. on the NHL Network.
