Travis Konecny, Philadelphia Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers (13-17-7) will be looking for the California sweep as they take on the Anaheim Ducks (10-23-4). It is a 10 p.m. matchup Monday.

It’s the last of a three-game road trip for the Flyers. They came back to defeat the Sharks in overtime, and used a shorthanded goal by Noah Cates to beat the Kings.

Anaheim is coming off a 6-1 blowout loss at the hands of the Nashville Predators. Filip Forsberg posted three points in his 600th NHL game. Colton Sissons had a goal and assist as well.

The Flyers stunned the LA Kings in their last game. Tied late in the third period, Cates blasted a shot from inside the zone that beat a screened Jonathan Quick. Travis Konecny added an empty-netter for the 4-2 victory.

“It’s a big goal for us, and just killing those power plays can give us momentum,” Cates said about his goal. “And if we put one in the back of the net, it’s huge for us.”

This is the first of two matchups in the span of two weeks between the Flyers and Ducks. They haven’t faced off since April of last season. Ronnie Attard scored his first NHL goal, but Trevor Zegras scored twice to lead the Ducks to a 5-3 win.

The Ducks have lost 10 of their last 14 games and sit 31st in the league. The Flyers are 24th but do have nine more points in the standings. These are two teams who should have a chance of landing Connor Bedard in the June draft, especially the Ducks.
