Tony DeAngelo

Philadelphia Flyers coach John Tortorella praised Tony DeAngelo’s play after Sunday’s morning skate.

In Sunday night’s game against the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs, however, he was unhappy with DeAngelo’s sloppiness with the puck. So he sent a message to the 27-year-old defenseman, benching him forĀ  most of the last two periods of the Flyers’ 6-2 loss.

DeAngelo had four giveaways in 7:05.

“It won’t be the first time I have a bad game or get sat,” he said. “I’m not going to go crazy into it.”

He added that players “aren’t here to question the coach.”

In other news, Washington got much stronger as two of its key forwards returned to the lineup after lengthy injuries. The Flyers face the Caps Wednesday and Saturday.
