TSN listed its top 30 trade candidates, and only one Flyer made the list.

Hello, James van Riemsdyk.

Or is it good-bye?

The 33-year-old van Riemsdyk is having another solid season — eight goals and 21 points in 32 games — but is in the final year of his contract. He figures to help a contending team looking for a big body who can aid its power play.

Since the Islanders made a deal to acquire star center Bo Horvat and jump-start their playoff push, Pittsburgh general manager Ron Hextall figures to make a deal or two to counteract New York’s move.

Might Hextall pursue van Riemsdyk? He is familiar with JVR, of course. It was Hextall who signed van Riemsdyk to a five-year, $35 million deal on July 1, 2018. It was the first aggressive move Hextall made since becoming the Flyers’ GM in 2014.

The Penguins and Islanders both won Wednesday; they both have 59 points, but Pittsburgh hold the last wild-card spot because it has four games in hand on New York. Washington (60) has the top wild-card spot, but it has played three more games than the Penguins.
