Flyers-Rangers: Lineups, Notes, TV info & a Surprise
A bit surprisingly, a walking trade rumor named James van Riemsdyk will be in the Philadelphia Flyers’ lineup Wednesday night against the visiting New York Rangers.
Many teams have held out expected-to-be-dealt players for fear of injury. The Flyers (23-28-10) are rolling the dice.
Justin Braun, Kevin Hayes, and Nick Seeler, three players also in the rumor mill, will be in Philly’s lineup as well.
As for the Rangers (34-17-9), their already-strong lineup has been improved by the acquisitions of Vladimir Tarasenko and Patrick Kane. Kane, acquired from Chicago on Tuesday, will not play tonight. He will make his Rangers debut Thursday against Ottawa at Madison Square Garden.
The Rangers will be without defenseman K’Andre Miller, who was suspended for three games for spitting on Los Angeles’ Drew Doughty.
Because of cap reasons, the Rangers will dress only five defensemen and 11 forwards Wednesday, based on their pregame skate.
The Flyers have lost seven of their last eight and have fallen out of the playoff race. They are without three of their key forwards — Travis Konecny, Cam Atkinson, and Sean Couturier.
With little depth, they will miss the playoffs for the third straight season, the first time that has happened since the 1990s.
