It was another busy trade day around the NHL on Wednesday.

It was also another day when the Philadelphia Flyers were spectators in the trade market. They have a few days to get something done. The trade deadline is Friday at 3 p.m.

The Ottawa Senators, making a late run for a playoff spot, acquired defenseman Jakob Chychrun from Arizona, which also dealt former Flyers defenseman Shayne “Ghost” Gostisbehere to Carolina.

In another move, Washington sent center Lars Eller (seven goals, 16 points), a hero in the 2018 Stanley Cup Final, to Colorado for a 2025 second-round pick. Eller is 33 and a pending free agent — the same age and situation as the Flyers’ James van Riemsdyk (nine goals, 23 points), who is also on the trade block.
