Former Philadelphia Flyers star Claude Giroux is 35 and not slowing down.

Never was that more evident than last week, when the Ottawa Senators’ right winger had nine points (three goals, six assists) over four games.

For his performance, the NHL named Giroux its No. 2 star of the week.

Boston defenseman Dmitry Orlov, acquired by the Bruins on Feb. 23, was the No. 1 star. Like Giroux, he collected nine points (3-6) in four games. He was plus-7 during the week, helping the Bruins extend their wining streak to 10 straight.

Minnesota goalie Filip Gustavsson was the No. 3 star, going 2-0 with  0.48 goals-against average. He stopped 70 of 71 shots, giving him a .986 save percentage.

Giroux propelled Ottawa to four straight victories, running its winning streak to five games — its longest in six years. The Sens moved to within three points of the final Eastern Conference wildcard spot.

He had a total of six points — including one game-winning goal — in back-to-back victories over Detroit. The player known as “G” then had another game-winning score as the Senators got past the New York Rangers, 5-3.

Giroux has 10 points over the last five games He signed with the hometown Senators as a free agent in July, agreeing to a three-year deal that pays him $19.5 million, an annual $6.5 million cap hit.

In his first season with Ottawa, Giroux has 63 points (26-37) in 62 games, and he leads the Sens with a plus-8 rating. He has scored 25 or more goals six times in his career, and is strengthening his case for the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Giroux and the Senators play Monday in Chicago, a team that upset them in overtime, 4-3, on Feb. 17.

The Philadelphia Flyers dealt Giroux, two minr-leaguers, and a fifth-round draft pick in 2024 to Florida last season. In return, the Flyers received Owen Tippett, a third-round selection in 2023, and a first-rounder in 2024. Tippett (18 goals), 24, is having a breakout year with the Flyers.
