Flyers Recall Talented D-man from Lehigh Valley Phantoms

Defenseman Ronnie Attard is getting another look from the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Flyers recalled the 6-foot-3, 208-pound defender Monday from the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms. He is expected to be in their lineup Tuesday in St. Louis.

Attard, 24, had a late-season 15-game stint with the Flyers last season, collecting four points (two goals, two assists) and a minus-2 rating.

A former standout at the University of Western Michigan, the right-handed shooting Attard has 11 goals,  30 points, and a plus-9 rating in 64 games with the Phantoms this season.

Attard, an AHL All-Star this season, leads Phantoms defensemen in goals, assists, and points. He is second on the team with 150 shots, behind only Garrett Wilson’s 157.

In 2019, the Flyers drafted him the the third round (No. 72 overall).

At Western Michigan, he was once teammates with right winger Wade Allison, who is now with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Breakaways

The Phantoms signed forward Brendon Furry, 24, to a two-year AHL contract. He joins Lehigh Valley on a tryout contract for the rest of the season. Furry had a three-year career at Minnesota State, where he had 28 points (nine goals, 19 assists) in 39 games this season.
