NHL Daily: Flyers’ Road Woes Grow; Panthers’ Alex Lyon (56 saves) Shines
The Philadelphia Flyers have forgotten how to win on the road.
They suffered their ninth straight road defeat Thursday, losing in Dallas, 4-1. Overall, it was their fifth consecutive defeat.
The win kept the Stars tied for first place with Colorado in the Central Division, though the Avs have a game in hand.
Meanwhile, the three main teams battling for the final two Eastern Conference wild-card spots — the Islanders, Pittsburgh, and Florida — each registered convincing wins.
Florida defeated Ottawa, 7-2; Pittsburgh topped Minnesota, 4-1; and the Islanders walloped Tampa Bay, 6-1.
Each team has three games left, and Florida and the Islanders have 89 points, while the Penguins are currently out of a playoff spot with 88 points.
The Penguins are trying to make the playoffs for the 17th straight season.
