Get To Know Flyers’ Top Prospect Cutter Gauthier Off The Ice
As Team USA tries to win a bronze medal today against Latvia at the World Championships, here’s an inside look at Flyers’ top prospect Cutter Gauthier.
In an interview conducted by Team USA’s communications team, Gauthier was asked a bunch of “This or That” questions. We published a similar interview of Flyers defenseman Ronnie Attard last week.
Gauthier is one of the tournament’s breakout stars. The 19-year-old has seven goals and two assists in nine games. Gauthier and the Americans lost in the semifinals to Germany, 4-3, in overtime Saturday. In the gold medal game today at 1 p.m. (Philadelphia time), Scott Laughton and Canada will play Germany. Team USA’s bronze-medal game begins at 8 a.m. today (Philadelphia time). Both games are on NHL Network.
Gauthier, who will be a sophomore at Boston College in the fall, was asked his preference of the following:
Beach or Mountain? — Mountain
iPhone or Droid? — iPhone
Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner? — Breakfast
Wrist Shot or Slap Shot? — Slap shot
Golf, Tennis or Pickleball? — Golf
Country, Rock, Rap or Reggae? — Country
Early Riser or Night Owl? — Early Riser
Bubble or Cage (helmet)? — Bubble
Sports car, Truck, Van or Motorcycle? — Truck
Pineapple or No Pineapple? — No pineapple
Watch College Sports Or Pro Sports? — College
LeBron or Michael Jordan? — MJ
Ted Lasso, The Office or Game of Thrones? — Game of Thrones
Chicago, New York, or L.A.? — New York
NFL, NBA or MLB? — NFL
Burrito or Bowl? — Bowl
Mighty Ducks I, II or III? — Haven’t seen any of them
Olympic Gold Or Stanley Cup Title? — Olympic gold
Thin Crust Or Deep Dish? — Thin crust
Some might quibble with Gauthier saying country music is his favorite, but that’s cool, too. We like that Gauthier went old-school with Michael Jordan over LeBron James. Bowl over burrito is a solid choice.
And, thin crust pizza always.
Gauthier picked an Olympic gold medal over a Stanley Cup championship. Interesting but not surprising. He’s 19 years old with a bunch of international experience already. Picking the Olympic gold makes perfect sense.
After a few years in the NHL, his viewpoint might change.
