Flyers in Headlines from Voorhees to Sochi
Today is a big day for the Philadelphia Flyers. Rookie Camp starts for 25 players at 11:30 a.m. in Voorhees.
Wednesday was a big day for the Philadelphia Flyers, too. Their top prospect, Matvei Michkov, on loan to a different KHL team, saw a ton of ice-time and got on the scoresheet.
Michkov now is playing for HC Sochi and his team won, 5-4, in overtime. Michkov, the Flyers top draft pick in June, had two assists and two shots.
We also published a story on Flyers president Keith Jones talking about how he wants his team to play in this rebuilding season. Jones had a bunch of interesting things to say about the style of play he expects.
And two former Flyers landed PTO deals. Such are the passages of hockey life. One day you’re under contract and the next day you’re a free agent hoping to land another job.
There also was plenty of news — and fun reads — around the National Hockey League and the National Hockey Now network.
Including:
- Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy dissing the Aaron Rodgers-less New York Jets.
- Penguins defenseman Kris Letang informally practicing with the Canadiens.
- Blackhawks’ Connor Bedard meeting his hero Sidney Crosby
- And, Mike Babcock’s alleged invasion of privacy regarding his Blue Jackets players.
