In Wednesday’s edition of Bailey’s Daily, we’ll be talking the latest Philadelphia Flyers news, NHL news, stories, highlights, and more from the last day.

Flyers News

If you’ve enjoyed the development of Matvei Michkov during his time in the KHL with feeder club HK Sochi, then this one is for you. Fellow Philadelphia Flyers prospect Egor Zavragin has shared in an interview with MatchTV that he will be starting the upcoming 2024-25 season with Sochi, though without guarantees of playing regularly. This also opens up the possibility he plays with Michkov as a club teammate this year.

Speaking of Michkov and Zavragin, how cool would it be if they got coached by a Hockey Hall of Famer in Sergei Zubov? Recently hired as Sochi’s new head coach, Zubov is already going to be getting a superb talent in Zavragin, and Michkov, who he is already familiar with from SKA St. Petersburg, could be joining them.

CSKA president Igor Esmantovich was highly critical of the IIHF sanctions levied against his club, the Russian Ice Hockey Federation, and his former player and starting goalie, Ivan Fedotov. The Flyers goalie is now ineligible to represent Russia in any capacity at the upcoming 2026 Olympic Games, and Esmantovich accuses the IIHF of meddling and interfering with Russian hockey.

As far as punishment goes for Fedotov, that is probably the worst he’ll have to deal with from this debacle. The 27-year-old will be barred from playing club hockey for six months if he is to leave the Flyers and play for another team under the jurisdiction of the IIHF, which is unlikely given he signed a lucrative contract extension with the Flyers a few weeks ago.

NHL News from National Hockey Now

According to a report, former Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin, who previously disrespected some of the franchise’s greatest legends, is being considered by the Columbus Blue Jackets for their general manager vacancy. Bergevin has served as a special adviser to Los Angeles Kings general manager Rob Blake since Jan. 2022.

Speaking of general managers, Pittsburgh Penguins GM Kyle Dubas has his work cut out for him this summer after his aging Pens surprisingly fell at the gates of the Stanley Cup playoffs. They need talent, they need skill, and they need youth. More problematic is that they have very few assets worthy of pulling those things off. The latest Penguins trade targets before the start of June.

Remember this guy? Social media often refers to these kinds of players as a “legend” of one of their former teams. For the New Jersey Devils, that happens to be former winger Nikita Gusev, who was just named the KHL’s MVP for the second time in his career. The same Gusev who eclipsed 40 points in his first season in the NHL with the Devils and was then cast away by the recently fired Lindy Ruff.

You don’t see this every day, but hockey is as much part of life as it is a sport. We all have bad days. Colorado Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon shoulders the blame for his team’s brutal Game 4 loss to the Dallas Stars; “I was bad,” he said bluntly.

OK we have our goalies situated now let’s go after a sniper. There are some good ones in this draft. 1st Demidov this guy is unreal. The video on this guy shows his capabilities. Also he’s playing with Michkov. Those two are familiar with each other and would be deadly for any team to face. 2nd Eiserman. His stats speak for themselves. Him and Courtiere together would tear it up.3rd Lindstrom. He has the skills like the other two but his size is what sets him apart from the other two. 6’4 220lb. He sounds like an ass whipping waiting to happen! Projected at #10 he would be the easiest to aquire. The other two I would give up both 1st rounders to get. Maybe a prospect too. We haven’t had a 40 plus goal scorer in over 15 years.Jeff Carter to be exact. So it’s time to address this problem don’t you think???? Also I would trade a couple of defenseman and get Zadorov from Vancouver. We need some grit back there and he will bring it. Plus he can score. I’ve been a Flyers fan since Ed VanImpe so I think I’m qualified to give an accurate assessment of my team .I hope the front office reads this and seriously considers my suggestions because they all fit the rebuild. Oh and keep up the good work Danny and Keith. We are headed in the right direction. GO FLYERS!!!!!!
