Bailey’s Daily: Flyers Training; Nylander Brothers Reunited

In Monday’s edition of Bailey’s Daily, we’ll be talking the latest Philadelphia Flyers news, NHL news, stories, highlights, and more from the last day.
Flyers News
Ok, so firstly, stuff went down with the Alexei Kolosov situation. I (Jon) circulated a report that the Philadelphia Flyers basically dumped the goalie in a hotel for a month and told him ‘good luck’. This is not the case and has been rectified in the original article.
The Flyers vehemently denied that report, so changes were made. As far as me originally saying the Flyers “abandoned” Kolosov, yes, that’s what it seemed like. If I had said “left”, there would be no pushback. The two words are synonyms.
Anyhow, this is in the past, it’s been resolved and cleared, and it’s my promise and my responsibility to be more mindful of how I word things and whose information I’m passing around in the position I’m in.
A few days back, Flyers forward Bobby Brink made a cameo on the Nasty Knuckles podcast and shared that he’s spent a good chunk of the offseason here in Voorhees, New Jersey, golfing, working out, and things of that sort.
The 23-year-old also shared that the Flyers are working with him to help him become stronger and more explosive–two things he could really use to complement his outstanding hockey IQ and playmaking abilities. At 5-foot-8, Brink needs every advantage he can get on the ice.
NHL News
Despite an electric start to life with the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Flyers’ Metropolitan Division rivals elected not to retain Alex Nylander, formerly the No. 8 overall pick in 2016 and brother of Toronto Maple Leafs superstar William Nylander.
However, with all 32 NHL teams passing on Alex Nylander, the Maple Leafs swooped in and handed the 26-year-old forward a one-year AHL contract for the 2024-25 season.
Good job sir! Takes a pro to admit he needs to do a better job. I do enjoy reading your column & look forward to your “better” effort. Thank you for your hard work, dedication & desire to be the best in your job! 👏👏👍
“left” and “abandoned” are not first level synonyms. “I left my phone at the gym” does not mean the same thing as “I abandoned my phone at the gym.” I generally like your reporting, but when I read your first article, I thought “that doesn’t sound right.”
Kolosov’s situation….I figured it was not what it appeared. Many jumped all over the Flyer’s org in condemnation. …lambasting Jones, Briere or Hilferty. The kid will do well back in the KHL and make his name as a top goalie in hockey.
Bring back Sam Carchidi! Sure do miss his reporting. One of the best !
He still writes here and will have a column out on Friday. Just talked to him today. Not sure why you continuously feel the need to take pot shots at me while I continue to learn the tricks of the trade and strive to improve.
Don’t play word game’s son.
He’s not worth responding to , I enjoy your writing, there are so many perfect ppl out there, be glad you’re not one of them.
Thank you Bill, I appreciate you!
