In Tuesday’s edition of Bailey’s Daily, we’ll be talking the latest Philadelphia Flyers news, NHL news, stories, highlights, and more from the last day.

Flyers News

Philadelphia Flyers rookie forward Matvei Michkov got his first taste of life in Philadelphia on Tuesday night, throwing a ceremonial first pitch for the Philadelphia Phillies ahead of a pivotal matchup against the visiting New York Yankees.

Michkov was greeted by a caravan of Flyers players at Citizens Bank Park; forwards Joel Farabee and Tyson Foerster, as well as defenseman Cam York, hung out and spent the night with their new Flyers teammate.

However, in predictable Phillies fashion, they continued their demoralizing slump in a 14-4 battering at the hands of the Yankees. Newcomer Jazz Chisholm, in only his second game with the Yankees, homered at the top of the second and ninth innings, with the second of the two also driving in Giancarlo Stanton and running the score up to 14-4.

Superstar outfielder Aaron Judge also went yard twice to propel New York to an easy victory, increasing his MLB-leading home run total to 39.

I’m sure Michkov and his new Flyers friends will get to see better Phillies games in the near future.

NHL News

Carolina Hurricanes forward Martin Necas apparently changed his tune in terms of seeking a trade and expanding his role with a different NHL club; the 25-year-old restricted free agent took a two-year, $13 million contract to stay in Carolina on Monday.

According to a source familiar with the situation, Pittsburgh Hockey Now has been able to discover that the Pittsburgh Penguins have at least talked about the possibility of handing standout defenseman Marcus Pettersson a new contract, but talks in that regard haven’t gotten serious yet.

The Penguins’ first order of business? That’s re-signing superstar and future Hockey Hall of Famer Sidney Crosby to a new contract.

Crosby will turn 37 years old on Aug. 7.

You could tell by the way he threw the pitch it was awkward to him. But being Michkov he found the strike zone. Can’t wait to see him in the batting practice. He better hit the cage first. LOL Flyers better be careful here. They may lose their star to baseball if he changes his passions! LOL
