Flyers Debut New Fanatics Practice Jerseys
Getting in some early work before the start of rookie camp, training camp, and the start of the NHL preseason, the Philadelphia Flyers have debuted their new Fanatics practice jerseys.
The official X (Twitter) account of the Philadelphia Flyers posted two emojis – a hockey stick and a “soon” emoji – with three photos of some Flyers skating at the Flyers Training Center in Voorhees, NJ.
Veterans Scott Laughton and Erik Johnson led a group of players, including Cam York, Joel Farabee, Morgan Frost, and Tyson Foerster, in an informal skate session on Tuesday.
Because York’s body is facing the camera in the photo attached above, we can get a closer look at what the new threads are looking like. All in all, it’s a pretty standard jersey.
The Flyers logo in the center is flanked by a white outline circle with what appears to be “Property of Philadelphia” in black lettering. The IBX patch, which many fans apparently have a strong dislike for, sits on York’s right shoulder, while the new Fanatics logo is smaller and more innocuous on the left shoulder.
At the top of the shoulders, there’s a random black oval that interrupts the solid grey coloring, which I personally find strange. Just make the jersey fully grey or fully black, you know?
Truthfully, though, the difference in color will be far less visible to fans watching from afar or to us reporters up in the Training Center’s press box.
As always, let us know what you think in the comments section below this post.
Agree on jersey, in that make it solid thru and thru…but I guess they wanted a little more pizzazz added with that black shoulder design oval. Also see Kolosov is so far a no show here in the US…if continues, then Danny needs to move him ASAP….a few teams out west could use a young goalie prospect.
The last thing the team needs is that down the road Kolosov turns into another Bob and we would have egg on our face once again concerning goalies. As long as another year isn’t burned off of his ELC and the contract can be tolled, let him gain another year of experience and then have him come over next year. I would prefer a three headed monster with the big club instead of him riding the buses with Allentown if that is what it would take but with the Flyers history with goalies they can’t take any chances whatsoever if Kolosov becomes the next great Russian goalie and we let him go.
Fear…..it can imprison oneself. If he turns into a Bob….good for him. He is a distraction in the org and needs to be moved out. If they let him play with Minsk again and becomes the number one goalie in the KHL, great, can raise his trade value. Flyers have enough goalies in the pipeline to compensate…..and the other Russian younger goalie may be even better
The team is black and orange – gray is not one of them. The IBX patch needs to be removed or make it blend in as… a gray color. 🙂 So it is not so distracting to the flyers logo. Kolosov needs to get here or he should not play over there, until his contract is done. They need to send a message to these young players, that think. they can dictate the contract and the team they play for. Gauthier for example, should have been punished. The flyers are sending the wrong message. We are to be seen as a strong team and that is not what the message is. Danny is acting weak. He needs to use the experienced people around him to make better decisions. Rebuild and retool this team and show the act the part of a great team in this league.
Well they did show a strong side on the Ryan Johansen situation…and it could work out favorably for both parties…some cap relief for the Flyers and Johansen can get a little money for what he and his agent did. But agree as for the young prospects who have not proven themselves at the NHL level as of yet, they need to be a little more hardline with them.
I like them. But I hate the IBX patch. Our players are warriors not human billboards! It’s degrading to them. Put the logo behind the bench, water bottles and stick rack but not on the players!
