Bailey’s Daily: Flyers Injury Concerns; Utah’s First NHL Game

In Wednesday’s edition of Bailey’s Daily, we’ll be talking the latest Philadelphia Flyers news, NHL news, stories, highlights, and more from the last day.
Flyers News
The Philadelphia Flyers are, unfortunately, picking right back up where they left off last season.
Unless he is able to return to practice in Vancouver on Thursday, it looks like rugged defenseman Nick Seeler is trending towards missing the Flyers’ season-opener against the Canucks on Friday night.
Seeler, 31, is dealing with some numbness in his leg after taking a puck to the knee in last week’s preseason game against Boston. Usually that’s something that goes away after a few hours or a day, but it’s still keeping Seeler off the ice.
If this continues to ail the trusty blueliner, Flyers associate coach Brad Shaw won’t be the only one who is feeling concerned going forward.
Now, I know some people didn’t like this Flyers trade target, but I am a fan of Pierre Engvall.
Yes, he has a long contract, and yes, the Islanders cut him outright and he was just on waivers.
In my view, you need bottom-six players who can play a role and play it well. Engvall has done that his whole NHL career, and he’s a cost-controlled asset for a long time. Hell, maybe the Isles throw in a pick as a ‘thank you’ to the Flyers.
How did Utah do in its first NHL game?
The big NHL news on Wednesday is going to be about the Utah Hockey Club, which made its NHL debut against the Chicago Blackhawks under the bright lights of the Delta Center in Salt Lake City.
Young star winger Dylan Guenther scored the first goal in Utah history less than five minutes into the team’s inaugural game, and later followed it up with an empty-net goal to seal the deal.
Connor Bedard picked up two assists for the Hawks, but Utah captain Clayton Keller, Guenther, and standout goalie Connor Ingram stood tall to secure a 5-2 victory for the team’s first ever win in the NHL.
Utah Hockey Club….come on Salt Lake City guys…..come up with something more than that name…I would even like the Utah Skinwalkers….in honor of our extraterrestrial visitors.
Why would the flyers pick up a nhl cast off and block a prospect that just left camp? That doesn’t seem like a good idea you’re stretching.
