Bailey’s Daily: Flyers Lineup Changes; Devils Rookie On Fire

In Tuesday’s edition of Bailey’s Daily, we’ll be talking the latest Philadelphia Flyers news, NHL news, stories, highlights, and more from the last day.
Flyers News
After a rather disappointing loss to the Calgary Flames on Saturday night, head coach John Tortorella and the Philadelphia Flyers are making some lineup changes ahead of Tuesday night’s game against the Edmonton Oilers.
Rookie Jett Luchanko is expected to re-enter the lineup, and veteran tough guy Nick Deslauriers is poised to make his 2024-25 season debut.
As of right now, center Ryan Poehling is the odd man out.
Also in question is the status of winger Joel Farabee, who dubiously missed Monday’s practice due to maintenance, even after a day off on Sunday. Tortorella was noncommittal on his availability for Tuesday night, so we will see what happens there.
Veteran forward Scott Laughton skated in Farabee’s place on the third line next to Sean Couturier and Bobby Brink.
And, in case you missed it, former Flyers prospect Maxim Sushko feels the organization has gone out of its way to make top goalie prospect Alexei Kolosov a priority.
“There are no such opportunities: the club is very rarely so interested in you that it did not want to let you go back to the KHL,” Sushko said in an interview.
NHL News
Well, if you would believe it, the New Jersey Devils have spawned another young star defenseman out of thin air, and his name is Seamus Casey.
After scoring his first NHL goal in the Devils’ second game of the season against Buffalo in the 2024 Global Series in Prague, Casey is already up to three goals and an assist through his first five NHL games.
There have been ups and downs, as is customary for most 20-year-olds with no professional hockey experience whatsoever, but Casey is quickly learning the ropes. In Monday night’s 3-0 shutout win over the Utah Hockey Club, Casey had one goal, one assist, and a career-high 14:09 of ice time.
We know that Luke Hughes and free agent newcomer Brett Pesce are on the mend, but if the Devils find a place for Casey in the lineup after they return, watch out.
The Oilers are 0-3 to start the season, have been outscored 15-3, and obviously haven’t decided to start playing hockey yet after their lengthy playoff run last season. Often, a good remedy for such a situation is playing the Flyers. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Edmonton get their first victory tonight.
They are desperate team for sure……Flyers have to avoid bad penalties and putting that potent power play out there on the ice…at some point McDavid, Draisaitl and crew will explode, hopefully not tonight..
