In Sunday’s edition of Bailey’s Daily, we’ll be talking the latest Philadelphia Flyers news, NHL news, stories, highlights, and more from the last day.

Flyers News

The Philadelphia Flyers finally have their first regulation or overtime win (ROW) of the 2024-25 regular season.

Flyers captain Sean Couturier scored a hat trick and two assists, while Travis Konecny added five points of his own in a truly insane 7-5 win over the Minnesota Wild on Saturday afternoon.

Star rookie Matvei Michkov chipped in a goal and an assist, and Rasmus Ristolainen played a superb game in over 25 minutes of ice time against the Wild.

With Cam York moving to injured reserve for at least two weeks, Ristolainen is going to have to continue to provide Philadelphia with some quality minutes, just like he did on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking of Cam York, the Flyers have made two roster moves related to his placement on the injured reserve.

First, defenseman Emil Andrae returns to the NHL after having just been sent down five days ago. Andrae filled in for the injured Nick Seeler the last time he was with the Flyers, and now he’ll have to do the same with York on the shelf.

Second, and perhaps most interestingly, top goalie prospect Alexei Kolosov has been called up from the AHL… but both Ivan Fedotov and Sam Ersson are healthy at the moment.

Is Kolosov on the verge of supplanting Fedotov as the backup goalie? Or do the Flyers intend to have Kolosov back Fedotov up and give Ersson a full night off in preparation of goals potentially flowing into the back of the net again?

We’ll soon find out for sure…

NHL News

Try not to laugh as I explain this to you.

On Friday night, New Jersey Devils goon Kurtis MacDermid entered the lineup in place of forward Nate Bastian and promptly laid out New York Islanders defenseman Alex Romanov in the neutral zone.

Romanov planned to exact revenge on the Devils by targeting superstar forward Jack Hughes, who took a healthy hit himself but immediately got back up.

Romanov’s response after the game was, “They hit me. I’m gonna hit them, and I’m gonna hit their best player.”

Romanov then proceeded to miss Friday’s game against Florida with an upper-body injury. Whatever you say, Alex!

Speaking of goons and beef in the Metropolitan Division, the Flyers (and Nick Deslauriers, in particular) can rest easier for a little bit.

The New York Rangers sent their Rock’Em Sock’Em on skates, Matt Rempe, down to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL in order to get more playing time.

Quite frankly, he doesn’t have one identifiable trait in his game aside from the fact that he lumbers around the ice looking to hit and fight people. Rempe is still only 22, so the Rangers trying to develop him more in the AHL is the smart move here.
