Bailey’s Daily: Flyers Surviving; Worrying Signs in Vancouver
In Friday’s edition of Bailey’s Daily, we’ll be talking the latest Philadelphia Flyers news, NHL news, stories, highlights, and more from the last day.
The Philadelphia Flyers have not played great hockey lately, but they have won two games in a row. They also have points in four straight games. Give credit to Ivan Fedotov for working his tail off and stealing two games for the Flyers in the last week.
For my pro-tank crowd, that is what you might call ‘failing upwards’. The center situation also isn’t looking too hot now that Sean Couturier is injured. Has anyone seen Jett Luchanko lately?
Other struggle bus passengers include Tyson Foerster, who John Tortorella is now “concerned” about with his struggles being consistently present through the first quarter of the 2024-25 season.
Some personal news: Happy and honored to announce I am joining @TheHockeyNews, which I have read since the 1970s. Will be writing a couple stories/columns a week on the @NHLFlyers and the rest of the @NHL. Meanwhile, we are still plugging along on our “Bullies” TV series!

Those who have been coming to Philly Hockey Now for a while might have noticed that Sam Carchidi has not written an article here in a while. The skinny is that Sam was basically let go for the foreseeable future, and after waiting for a bit, Sam has joined forces with The Hockey News.
So, he’s not going to have coverage here anymore. I wish this was not the case, and I advocated for Sam to stay, but there was ultimately nothing him or I could do about the situation. That choice was made for us already, unfortunately.
NHL News
The Flyers have faced the Vancouver Canucks this season; you may remember that Philadelphia’s first game of the season was a shootout win in Vancouver.
Well, Canucks head coach (and former Flyers stud) Rick Tocchet took it upon himself to apologize not once, but twice, to the home fans after another dismal performance after losing 5-2 to the Islanders on Thursday night.
The Canucks are now tied for last in the NHL with just two wins at home, and they’ve allowed 34 goals at home, which is the third-most in the NHL.
Good luck to Sam C-been reading his writing on hockey for decades now…….I look forward to reading him on THN, he did an excellent job on here and enjoyed reading his writing…..maybe at some point the THN contract will let him on occasion write again here on a free lance basis.
