Bailey’s Daily: Flyers Injury Updates; Patrik Laine Returning?
In Monday’s edition of Bailey’s Daily, we’ll be talking the latest Philadelphia Flyers news, NHL news, stories, highlights, and more from the last day.
We’re back from taking about a day and a half off, which is always a push-pull effect. You know how it goes.
It’s always busy in Philadelphia Flyers land, though. In Erik Johnson’s 1,000th NHL game, a 5-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night, rookie defenseman Emil Andrae suffered an undisclosed injury.
Flyers associate coach Brad Shaw was unable to provide an injury update after Sunday’s practice, which implies that Andrae is truly injured and this is not just a precaution.
Starting goalie Sam Ersson has been retroactively placed on injured reserve, which opens up a roster spot the Flyers can use to activate Cam York from injured reserve or call up another player from the AHL.
Based on what I’ve heard, expect the former.
Just posted on where the Sky is Blue as well, but Sam Ersson is on IR, giving the Flyers an extra roster spot
Hearing Cam York could return from IR tomorrow and play vs. Avalanche but final decision will come in the morning

Ultimately, this will depend on how York is feeling physically and if he feels he is ready to play. The 23-year-old has practiced in a regular jersey with full contact in three consecutive practices, so it’s reasonable to expect York’s return this week, if not on Monday night against the Colorado Avalanche.
NHL News
Sniper winger Patrik Laine has yet to officially make his Montreal Canadiens debut after suffering a gruesome knee sprain in a collision with Cedric Pare in the NHL preseason, but, apparently, Laine is nearing a return to the ice.
TVA reporter Renaud Lavoie has hinted that Laine may be ready to return to action by the end of this month, but there are no guarantees being made there.
Laine has already resumed skating with his Canadiens teammates, so he can’t be too far off a return if the end of November isn’t in the cards.
In any case, after seeing how his leg bent in that collision with Pare, it’s a minor miracle Laine is already mostly healthy and getting ready to go.
