Oliver Bonk Scored His First Goal of the 2025 World Juniors
Just two days after his current (and future teammate) Jett Luchanko got his first goal of the 2025 IIHF World Junior Ice Hockey Championships, Oliver Bonk found twine for his first score of the tournament.
Bonk’s goal was the first tally in Team Canada’s 3-0 win over Germany.

Bumper Bonk Does His Thing
It should not be surprising to anyone that Bonk scored his first goal of the tournament from the bumper.
It comes at a great time, too. Bonk was originally playing quarterback for the Canadian power play, which sparked some conversation. After a tough offensive start for Canada, the lines were shaken up, and Bonk returned home to the bumper, scoring in his first game in the position.
The goal marked Bonk’s second point in the tournament. He earned an assist in Canada’s 4-0 opening-day win over Finland.
Bonk and the rest of the Canadian World Juniors team will next play on December 31st against Team USA at 7:30 pm EST.
After watching Bonk now……Sept camp and a little of Knights and now IIHF…..he seems to lack some skating fluidity…. nice hard shot, and good size but does not move with any special quickness compared to his partner Dickerson. Also not in the Erie Otters’ Matt Schaefer class. Perhaps ceiling is a 2nd and/or for sure 3rd pairing guy with a pension to be a power play specialist with that shot. Reminds me from the old days of Tom Bladon.
