The Philadelphia Flyers improved to 18-20-5 after their 6-0 shutout win over the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday night.

Fueled by an energetic crowd, the Flyers played one of, if not their best, game of the season from start to finish.

Morgan Frost, Jamie Drysdale, Owen Tippett, Ryan Poehling, Matvei Michkov, and Garnet Hathaway all scored goals for the Flyers.

Konecny’s Helping Hand

Travis Konency had quite the night for himself.

Konecny earned the primary assist on each of the Flyers’ first three scores on the night. He later tacked on another assist on Matvei Michkov’s third-period power-play score. Konecny’s ability to find his teammates and lead them to great chances was on full display Saturday night.

With his four-point night, Konecny crossed the 50-point mark in just 43 games.

Ersson Gets the Shutout

The Flyers’ goaltenders have been struggling lately if not all season. Sam Errson’s performance will surely build some positive momentum.

“I think I’m in a pretty good spot, like I had a half of one (shutout) the game before I got injured, I think my game is in a good place.” Sam Ersson said postgame.

Ersson turned in a 22-save shutout in Saturday’s 6-0 win. Usually, a shutout is the biggest factor in a big win, as the Flyers had Saturday night. Ersson’s big night was one of many great performances by the Flyers’ players Saturday in their near-perfect win.

Drysdale Ends His Drought

Heading into Saturday’s contest with Anaheim, Jamie Drysdales’s most recent goal was against Seattle on October 17th. That would change against his former squad.

“Yeah, it felt really good. It’s obviously been a while, a struggle. But, yeah, it felt really good. Feels good to get that one, you know, more importantly, get the win,” said Drsydale.

Not only did Drysdale end his personal goal drought, but he scored a goal for the Flyers struggling power-play unit. His goal was the first of two points Drysdale earned against his old team. He also earned an assist on Michkovs thrid-period tally.

Michkov Blows the Roof Off the Building

Michkov scored his first goal since December 29th– it blew the roof off the building.

The Wells Fargo Center had a buzz to it that had been missing for quite some time, and Michkov’s third-period power-play score was what pushed it over the top.

Obviously, Cutter Gauthier’s “return” to Philadelphia energized the crowd, and the team fed off that energy early and often.

The Flyers came out of the gate playing at a quick pace and with a lot of energy. After a rough outing on Thursday where the team was booed on their home ice, the Flyers gave their fans a game they will not soon forget.

Hope the electricity is still there tomorrow vs the Panthers.
And …Michkov may have the best hands on the team…..that quick reacting goal in that tight window was exceptional. And he may also be the best passer on the team….virtually on the tape.
