Adjustments From Tuesday
The Flyers will undoubtedly have a bad taste left in their mouth after Tuesday’s loss to the Blue Jackets. Leading with less than five minutes to play in the game, it is certainly a game the Flyers will want back. It also is worth mentioning some bad bounces in the shootout hurt the Flyers, as TK had a double-doink off the crossbar and then post on his shootout attempt. Matvei Michkov’s attempt was spoiled by a bad bounce, causing the young star to lose his handle and not get a good shot in the wide-open space he gave himself.
Needless to say, the Flyers should come out of the gates hungry on Thursday and make the necessary adjustments to win this game.
Maybe Joel Farabee draws back into the lineup, providing a big spark. Or perhaps a shakeup in the defensive pairs after a tough game. Though Fedotov played a great game, maybe Ersson back between the pipes would help lead the Flyers to a win on Long Island.
Can Konecny Avoid a Pointless Streak
If a player goes three games without tallying a point, it is usually not a cause for concern. Regarding Travis Konecny, a three-game pointless skid may become a cause for concern.
Only twice this season has Konecny gone three games without scoring a point, both of which came in October (the final game was November 2nd). Konecny has only gone two games without tallying a point one other time–the Flyers back-to-back games December 28th and 29th.
Konecny will surely look to get back on track against the Islanders on Thursday.
Matchup History
Thursday is the first matchup between the two teams during the 2024/25 season. The Islanders won the last matchup between the two teams 4-3 in overtime.
The Flyers have struggled against the Islanders in recent history. Philly is 3-5-2 against New York in their last 10 meetings, and they are 145-102-19 all-time against the Islanders.
