SUSPENDED: Tsyplakov Gets 3 Games, Laughton Gets Fined

NHL Player Safety has suspended Islanders forward Maxim Tsyplakov for three games after his hit on Ryan Poehling Thursday night.
Tsyplakov was initially given a major penalty on the play before a review deemed the hit clean. The play and reversed call sparked anger among the Flyers, including Joel Farabee, who was given a minor penalty for slashing against Tsyklapov. Scott Laughton, was also called for a penalty against Tsyklapov, earned a minor penalty for cross-checking.
Post-game, Farabee spoke about Tsyplakov’s hit on Poehling. “I was seeing red, I think. I really wanted to go (with) that guy. Honestly, I have a lot of thoughts on it, so I’ll leave it at that.”
After a hearing on Friday, Tsyplakov was given a three-game suspension for his hit on Poehling.
Laughton Fined for Cross-Checking
Tsyplakov was not the only player to earn a punishment from Thursday’s game between the Flyers and Islanders.
Flyers alternate captain Scott Laughton earned a $5,000 fine for cross-checking Tsyplakov in the third period of the game. Laughton earned a penalty for the cross-check in the game as well.
Flyers head coach John Tortorella said that Poehling would not play Saturday and did not practice on Friday but had no other update on the status of Poehling.
They handled it. The league actually took care of it this time.
