Bounce Back Game

The Flyers can flush Thursday’s loss, bounce back, and keep the positive momentum going on Friday.

Not for a lack of trying; the Flyers had 36 shots last night. The Rangers just truly outplayed the Flyers in every facet of the game. Nothing could go right for Philly, while it seemed like everything was going right for New York.

Instead of dwelling on the loss for a day in between, the Flyers will have the immediate opportunity to right the ship and get back in the win column. The Flyers remain in the hunt for a wild card spot, but a losing skid at this point in the season could prove to be detrimental to the Flyers’ postseason hopes.

A bounce-back game on Friday is crucial for the Flyers.

Fedotov Back in Net

With Friday’s game being the second in as many days, Ivan Fedotov is expected to get the nod on Long Island.

Fedotov is winless in his last three starts (0-1-2) but has significantly improved his game and earned the right to be the Flyers’ backup goalie. Fedotov has allowed eight goals combined in his last three starts. He kept the Flyers within one score against the Maple Leafs, lost to Toronto in overtime the very next game, and then lost in a shootout to Columbus in his last start.

This will give Sam Ersson some much-needed rest ahead of a tough stretch of games leading to the Four Nations Face-Off.

Previous Matchup

The Flyers took the first of four games in the series between the two teams. With that game just over a week ago, some tension may remain for Maxim Tsyplakov’s hit on Ryan Poehling. Tsyplakov will miss Friday’s game due to the suspension.

Philly is 4-5-1 against the Islanders in its previous 10 meetings. Joel Farabee leads the Flyers in scoring over that stretch with two goals and four assists.
