The Philadelphia Flyers (23-25-6) will wrap up a quick two-game western road trip on Tuesday when they take on the Utah Hockey Club (21-22-9). This meeting will mark the first time the Flyers travel to Utah.
The Flyers have been outscored 21-6 in their last six games, with a record of 1-5-0. Utah is also on quite the losing skid, having been outscored 16-8 during its five-game losing streak.
The puck drops at 9 P.M. EST. at the Delta Center.

Time to End the Scoreless Streak
The Flyers have three games remaining before the Four Nations break: Tuesday vs. Utah, Thursday vs. Washington, and Saturday vs. Pittsburgh. If there was ever a time to snap the scoreless skid and try and build some momentum, now is the time.
You cannot win games if you do not score goals, and goals have seemingly come at a premium for both teams heading into Tuesday’s game.
The Flyers scoreless streak? It is 180 minutes and 15 seconds, with Scott Laughton’s empty-net goal against the Devils as the Flyers’ last goal. It has been 217 minutes and 26 seconds since the Flyers last scored a goal against a goaltender (Garnet Hathaway’s second-period goal vs. NJD).
Philly will surely look to get the monkey off the team’s back early in Tuesday’s game.
Lineup Questions
The Flyers’ lines and pairs are completely up in the air for the second straight game.
Owen Tippett traveled but did not play Sunday vs. Colorado due to an upper-body injury. If the Flyers can get him healthy, that would solve all the issues.
However, the Flyers are in a tricky spot. Most of the AHL players up with the Flyers are playing a role and would leave a gap if they were to be sent back down. Rodrigo Abols and Jacob Gaucher are bottom-six centers, and Anthony Richard is playing on the second line.
Emil Andrae is also back, playing critical minutes on defense with Egor Zamula, who is still on the IR, and now with Rasmus Ristolainen “day-to-day.” The only player that could be sent back to the AHL roster is Aleksei Kolosov, but even his role is unclear. Despite finishing the game, Ivan Fedotov was shaken up after a collision against the Islanders last Thursday.
Nicolas Deslauriers remains cleared to play, but someone needs to be placed on the IR or sent back to Lehigh to activate him.
The Flyers used 11 forwards and seven defensemen against Colorado, but the potential absence of Ristolainen against Utah complicates things.
If Ristolainen cannot go, Tippett playing or Jakob Pelletier’s arrival are the only options the Flyers have without making a roster move.
Previous Matchup
Technically speaking, the Flyers have only played against the Utah Hockey Club once in both organization’s history. That was a 4-2 win for Utah in Philadelphia in early December. The Flyers could be without both goal-scorers from that game, as Farabee was traded, and Tippett potentially remains out.
The Utah Hockey Club, despite taking the entirety of the Arizona Coyotes organization, was granted a clean slate, separate from Arizona. The club has no history, as the Coyotes owner was able to retain the name and history of the Coyotes as he tries to resurrect the franchise.
With that said, in their last 10 games against the Arizona Coyotes/Utah Hockey Club, the Flyers are 6-3-1. The Flyers have outscored them 37-31 in that time.

This year after 54 games the record is 23-25-6 (54 pts).
Last year after 54 games the record was 29-19-6 (64 pts).
The rebuild does not seem to be trending the right way. I don’t see a lot to be excited about.
Is the expectation that we are still 2-3 years from being relevant?
Columbus, Ottawa, Red Wings, Montreal are having season Flyers had last season……rebuilds are never linear.
