Flyers Game 64, Where to go From Here; Lines, Notes, & How to Watch vs. Kraken

Published

on

The Philadelphia Flyers (27-28-8) will play their first game after the trade deadline on Saturday, when they host the Seattle Kraken (26-33-4).

The Flyers traded away a handful of pieces ahead of Friday’s 3:00 p.m. trade deadline, as did the Kraken. It will undoubtedly be a “figure it out” game for both clubs.

The nationally televised game (who picked Flyers vs. Kraken for a national game?) will begin at 12:30 p.m. EST at the Wells Fargo Center.

Where to Go From Here

One thing is for sure after the Flyers’ trade deadline approach: playoffs are far out of the picture.

That leads to the following question: Where do they go from here? The Flyers’ top six (plus Travis Konecny) are all more than capable players. They may not be able to carry the Flyers to the playoffs, but they can certainly win games down the stretch. However, what was an already rough bottom six was ravaged on Friday, not just by the departure of Scott Laughton but also by Andrei Kuzmenko.

The Flyers will take on one of the bottom of the barrel teams on Saturday in the Kraken, but do the Flyers match up any better?

Saturday’s game will help clarify the direction of the season. Will the Flyers keep pace and continue to push for the nearly out-of-reach postseason, or will their lack of NHL forwards lead to the team going belly up and pushing for a better draft selection?

Only time will tell, but Saturday’s game will indicate this team’s immediate future after the trade deadline.

Can TK Break his Slump

The Flyers’ star forward, Travis Konecny, is in quite the funk. Konecny had just one goal in the shortened month of February, and just five points. In fact, he has just five goals since the calendar flipped to 2025.

It’s never good when your $70 million player slumps, especially considering how great he was playing before 2025.

Konecny was on pace for his career-best season. While he is still on track (just five points away from tying), at one point, it looked like he would crush his career high–now, not so much.

He is pacing as a point-per-game player, for now. Through 63 games, Konecny has 63 points.

If there was ever a time to break his slump–for himself and the team–the time is now. Will Konecny break through on Saturday?

Previous Matchups

The Seattle Kraken’s inaugural season was in 2021/22. They have not been around for long. In seven games against Seattle, the Flyers are 3-3-1, and 2-1-0 at home.

The Kraken won the first meeting between the two sides earlier in the season in Seattle. Now, the Flyers will host the Kraken with the chance to split the season series.

Konecny has seven points in seven games against the Kraken, scoring four goals and three assists. Ryan Poehling is the next active Flyer with three points (1G, 2A) in three games against Seattle.

Cam York’s absence on first day after trade deadline…..what can we read into it…..maintenance day, injury, doghouse?

Unwatchable. Another lost season. Team is listless. No fire. No offense. Ersson was fine as a #2 behind Hart, but he’s no #1. We keep racking up draft picks, but you don’t even have a core group to build around. Absolute dumpster fire!
