Flyers Game 66, Back-to-Back for Fedotov; Lines, Notes, & How to Watch vs. Senators

The Philadelphia Flyers (27-30-8) host the Ottawa Senators (33-25-5) Tuesday night in the fifth game of the seven-game homestand. The Flyers have yet to win a game during the homestand.
The Flyers are 1-4-0 in their last five games, but with their last win coming against Winnipeg in overtime, they have given up at least a point in each of their previous six games. Ottawa has played four straight nailbiters, coming away with three wins–two in OT and one that literally came down to the last second.
The Senators are 4-0-1 in their last five games.
The puck drops at 7:00 p.m. EST. at the Wells Fargo Center.

Back-to-Back for Fedotov
Ivan Fedotov is set for back-to-back starts since January 5th and 7th.
Fedotov has taken over the number two role since that point. Fedotov has appeared in back-to-back games since, but they weren’t starts. This will mark the first time this season the Fedotov has earned back-to-back starts while Ersson has been available.
He has certainly earned the right to make his second straight start. Fedotov has played specifically well, especially while Ersson has come back down to earth. The Flyers needed a second goalie they could have confidence in, and Fedotov is giving them that confidence.
Konecny’s Birthday
Let’s find any excuse to give Travis Konecny a reason to break his slump. Today’s edition: it’s Konecny’s 28th birthday.
Being honest, this is just another reason to talk about Konecny breaking his slump. The Flyers desperately need Konecny to return to his 2024 form. Konecny is seemingly the life behind the Flyers. When he plays well, the team performs well. When he is off, the team follows.
The Flyers have to get scoring out of Konecny, and they need it fast. Maybe his 28th birthday will give him the confidence to score Tuesday night.
The Return of Giroux
Former Flyers’ captain Claude Giroux will return to Philadelphia for the fourth time in his post-Flyers career.
The future hall of famer has nine points in seven games against the Flyers, scoring three goals and six assists with a rating of +5. In his four games at the Wells Fargo Center, Giroux has four points with two goals and two assists.
Giroux played 1,000 games for the Flyers, scoring 291 goals and 609 assists. He is second amongst Flyers in all-time points scored, eight in goals scored, and second in assists. He is an all-time Flyers great.
