Flyers Notebook: Lineup Updates From Monday’s Morning Skate

After Monday’s morning skate, interim head coach Brad Shaw gave an update on his current roster. The return of forward Garnet Hathaway is among the biggest of the lineup updates given.
Aside from Hathaway, Shaw gave updates on his current defensive pairs and a little insight into the changes. He also explained who is coming out of the lineup now that Hathaway is returning. Shaw gave a time frame for the Flyers’ recent NCAA free agent signing and an update on a key contributor’s injury ahead of Monday’s game.

Lineup Updates
Garnet Hathaway: After missing the last 15 games with an upper-body injury, Garnet Hathaway will make his return Monday night against Nashville. In his return, Hathaway will play in his 600th career game. He may not be the biggest scoring threat for the Flyers, but they certainly missed his on-ice leadership and physicality. Hathaway was on pace for one of his career-best seasons before the injury. Now, he sits at 18 points, and is one shy of his second-highest career total.
Cam York–Jamie Drysdale: When asked what he saw with the defensive pairs and why he shook things up, Brad Shaw said the Flyers are at that point in the season where they just want to try different pairings. He put Cam York and Jamie Drysdale together ahead of Saturday’s game, primarily because he liked the Nick Seeler-Travis Sanheim pairing. However, Shaw said he liked what he saw with the York-Drysdale pair, and wanted to give it another go for Monday’s game, so expect that line against the Predators.
Nicolas Deslauriers: As expected, Nicolas Deslauriers is coming out of the lineup now that Hathaway has returned. There really was no other option. Jakob Pelletier is starting to find his groove, and the only other option was Olle Lycksell. Clearly, the Flyers leaned toward giving Lycksell more opportunity, which I cannot disagree with.
Karsen Dorwart: We will have to wait a little longer to see Karsen Dorwart in a Flyers uniform. Shaw said the plan is for him to go through his medical clearances on Tuesday’s off day. Assuming all goes as expected, he will join the Flyers for practice on Wednesday, ahead of Saturday’s game in Montreal.
Rasmus Ristolainen: It looks as if Rasmus Ristolainen’s season is done. Shaw mentioned that the plan is not to have Ristolainen for the rest of the season. He has not played since March 11th vs Ottawa. He is still considered “week-to-week” with an upper-body injury.
Aleksei Kolosov: This is less of an update and more of a lack thereof. What is Aleksei Kolosov doing with the Flyers? He was recalled ahead of last Tuesday’s game against the Maple Leafs, but has not yet dressed in a game. Weird, right? It is an eyebrow-raising situation. Certain headlines have been taking a bit of the attention off the Kolosov situation, but now that Shaw is settling in at his new position, maybe some clarity will be offered at Wednesday’s practice.
