Flyers Practice: Dorwart’s First Practice, Kolosov Update, & Lines from Wednesday

VORHEES, NJ–The Philadelphia Flyers held their second practice under Brad Shaw on Wednesday, although the first one was rather quick.
Karsen Dorwart has arrived in Philadelphia and is now practicing with the team. He is expected to make his NHL debut in the near future. We also got a good look at where he will fit into the Flyers’ lineup and an update on the always bizarre Aleksei Kolosov situation in Philly.

Karesen Dorwart’s First Practice with the Flyers
Philadelphia Flyers NCAA free agent signee Karsen Dorwart practiced for the first time with the team on Wednesday.
Dorwart was working with Nicolas Deslauriers and Garnet Hathaway on the fourth line, with Brad Shaw seeing his fit between the two as a “worker.”
He was also getting some work in on the right flank of the second power-play unit. At Michigan State, Dorwart was a do-it-all player, and there is a good chance that he could eventually be an all-situations player in Philly.
The plan is for Dorwart to make his NHL debut on Saturday in Montreal, and after that, Shaw is unsure how and when he will use him.
For fans who have not watched Dorwart, he describes himself as a complete player. “I am a two-way center. I am really responsible on both ends of the ice, and play a complete game.“
Like previously mentioned, we’ll likely see that complete game debut Saturday at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
Aleksei Kolosov Update
It’s been about a week since the Flyers recalled Aleksei Kolosov from Lehigh Valley. Despite that, he has yet to play a game or even dress.
That led to a few questions. One was, why did you even call him up? The second was, why bring him up if you’re not going to play him?
Well, Shaw answered one of the two questions in his availability after Wednesday’s practice. When asked if he would ever give Kolosov a chance to play this season, he said the plan is to get him a game or games. With six games remaining, it seems as if Kolosov will get at least one start in the final stretch.
Shaw did not specify why Kolosov was recalled or which game he would play. Regardless, he is expected to start somewhere in the final six games.
