Four to Go for the Flyers

Saturday’s game is the fourth-to-last game of the Flyers’ 2024/25 season. After the Islanders game on Saturday, the Flyers get back on the road to face the now-playoff-clinched Ottawa Senators, return to Philly for the home finale against the Columbus Blue Jackets, then get back on the road for the season finale against the Buffalo Sabres.

At one point, this final stretch looked like it would be quite the challenge for the Flyers. Now, not so much.

The Islander game will be very telling about the Flyers’ rest of the season. Will the offense continue to show improvement, or will they head back towards that high-end draft selection?

Foerster Heating Up

Tyson Foerster might have been the biggest beneficiary of the recent coaching change. Since John Tortorella was dismissed and Brad Shaw took over, Foerster has a goal in four of the five games under Shaw. He has six goals and an assist for seven points in that span.

The young forward had a hat trick in the Flyers’ last game against the Rangers, which brings his total to six goals in the last five games. However, that does not take away from the fact that he has scored in four of the last five games.

Foerster is heating up and will be a player to keep an eye on in Saturday’s contest.

Recent History

The Flyers have a 3-6-1 record against the Islanders in their last 10 matchups. The two teams have met three times this season, with Saturday marking the fourth. The Islanders have won two of the three meetings this season. The last time the two teams faced off, the Flyers made the trade that sent Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee to Calgary for Andrei Kuzmenko and Jakob Pelletier.

In the three games against the Islanders this season, Travis Konecny leads the Flyers in points with four assists. Sean Couturier follows Konecny with two points, a goal and an assist, in the three games.

Kyle Palmieri leads the Islanders in points against the Flyers this season with one goal and three assists.
