The Philadelphia Flyers made their second NCAA signing on Tuesday, inking left-winger Alex Bump to an entry-level contract. The Flyers announced that Bump will report to their AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, for the remainder of the season.

Bump was the Flyers’ fifth-round pick in 2022 and spent the last two seasons at Western Michigan, winning the National Championship with the Broncos this past season.

There has been a lot of buzz around Bump, and rightfully so. For a fifth-round pick to develop the way that he has is impressive. His freshman year at Western Michigan, Bump had 14 goals and 22 assists for 36 points in 38 games.

Excitement began to build after his freshman season, and he built on it with his sophomore season. Bump was the NCHC Forward of the Year this season, scoring 23 goals and 24 assists for 47 points in 42 games played. In his final collegiate game, Bump and the Broncos won the National Championship.

He finished his collegiate career with 37 goals and 46 assists for 83 points in 80 total games. That would make him a point-per-game player for the Broncos.

Bump has all of the tools he needs to be an offensive weapon. He is a fantastic scorer, a great playmaker, and is physical. Watching him live in St. Louis, I was really impressed watching the way he skated through hits.

Expectations were never supposed to be high for a former fifth-round pick; Bump quickly played himself into becoming one of the Flyers most exciting prospects.

Bump has the potential to be a great top-six forward in the near future.

It was great to get a look at bump at the frozen four on tv.He was all over the ice and did everything but score.
Very exciting prospect for sure.

If the Devils can get high production from Bratt…a 6th round pick….maybe the Flyers will get the good results from Bump as a 5th round pick..
