Philadelphia Flyers
Philly Hockey Now: Same Stories, new day. The Flyers’ busy week in Buffalo has come to an end. Here is what we know happened at the 2025 NHL Draft Combine.
PhHN+: The Flyers will have options at the No. 6 overall pick, but which one is the ideal one? Excluding Michael Misa and Matthew Schaefer, check out our draft ranking for the most ideal pick for the Flyers.
The Athletic ($): NHL Draft expert Scott Wheeler released his mock draft 2.0. While Wheeler has taken part in many other mocks, this is the second where he has predicted the entire first round all on his own.
Wheeler’s mock had one of the best case scenario options falling to the Flyers in none other than James Hagens. How he was able to fall to the Flyers at No. 6, well, you’ll just have to check out Wheeler’s mock to see.
NHL Trade Rumors and News
Mirtle: James Mirtle of The Athletic dropped a bit of a bombshell rumor. Mirtle reported that prior to the trade deadline, there was a three-team trade between Carolina, Toronto, and Vegas that would have sent Mitch Marner to Vegas, Mikko Rantanen to Toronto, and other assets back to Carolina. However, Vegas could not find anything of equal value, so the trade fell through.
Imagine the shockwaves sent through the league that a mid-season trade with those players would have caused. It would have been crazy.
Mirtle: James Mirtle is not done with the Marner rumors. Mirtle also reported that there may be a new suitor for Marner, and they could become aggressive. Who could that team be? Well, the Anaheim Ducks. Mirtle suggests that they could be the “high-bidder” and offer more than $14 million a year for the star winger.
Friedman: Elliotte Friedman has also reported that the Dallas Stars are interested in retaining captain Jamie Benn. Benn is a free agent starting July 1st. He won’t command a massive contract, but again, it makes clearing cap space all the more critical for Dallas.
National Hockey Now
NYI Hockey Now: The Flyers had a busy week, but the team with the No. 1 overall pick might have been just as busy at the NHL Draft Combine. The New York Islanders will have a big decision to make with the top pick in this year’s draft. Here is what Russ Macias took away from the combine.
Vegas Hockey Now: Top-four veteran defenseman who are leaders are important assets to any team. Losing them is a big blow to a deal, and it seems like Vegas may be down that path as Alex Pietrangelo’s health for next season is up in the air.
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: The Flyers aren’t the only center-needy team in the metro. Keystone State rival, the Pittsburgh Penguins, are also in need of help down the middle. Dan Kingerski writes about three centers the Penguins could hope for.
