Flyers 2025 NHL Draft Prospects: James Hagens Analysis and Highlights

Published

on

The Philadelphia Flyers need a center, and James Hagens could be that solution.

Despite being a point-per-game player in his freshman season at Boston College, people still expected more out of Hagens, causing his draft stock to slide a bit. He was once considered to be the top pick in the draft, and now, he could fall.

Earlier in the year, we discussed Hagens as a possibility for the Flyers and did a written analysis of the draft prospect. Now, Matt Meagher does a video breakdown and analysis, sharing his best and worst traits and skills.

As said before, Hagens checks every box the Flyers are looking for in a franchise center. The play-driving center has the hands and playmaking ability to compliment Matvei Michkov in all the best ways.

Hagens had 11 goals and 26 assists for 37 points in 37 games during his freshman campaign, playing on one of the best lines in the NCAA.

While expected to go No. 6 at the very latest, the Hauppauge, NY, product could opt to return to BC for a year of being the main man for the Eagles. That will only help his development and make him an even better player, which is an enticing opportunity. Hagens will be a hot commodity on draft night.

Is there a fit the Flyers? Enjoy Matt Meagher’s analysis of James Hagens!

If Hagens is their guy, it was a shoo in at #4, but it would have to fall perfectly for them to get him at #6. It would help if the rumor about Utah loving Martin is true. Either way, if the Predators like him at five, the Flyers could be left with Martone, which is certainly not a bad consolation prize.

Still wish DB would offer Sharks, or Hawks or Utah a package deal to move up to their slots. The 6th, Oilers pick and Bump or Barkey may get it done with one of the three clubs.

Getting Hagan’s would be incredible
On 2/1/25 he was rated #2 from NHL Central Scouting and #2 by Bob McKenzie. Daily Faceoff #2 , Elite Prospects #2, McKeen’s Hockey #2, Sportsnet #2
Did he really play that bad in the last 3 months of the season? I think not.
Go Flyers !

Oh great, another wasted pick on a overhyped college player. Who’s next on their big board? Oliver Barret the 4th?
