The NHL offseason just gets busier, and we share why in today’s edition of the PhHN Daily!

Philadelphia Flyers’ GM Danny Briere is going to have many options on draft night. We have discussed the ideal options at No. 6, but what about No. 22? Well, we talk about both in today’s daily!

In other league news, two familiar general managers are close to yet another cap dump trade that actually sends real assets back to the team making the dump. Oh, and the Toronto Maple Leafs may be nearing two big-time extensions.

Lastly, one of the biggest rumors of the offseason has begun to gain traction. Could a 25-year-old star be traded sooner rather than later?

Catch it all on the 6/11 edition of the Philly Hockey Now Daily.

Philadelphia Flyers

PhHN+: The Philadelphia Flyers are going to have plenty of choices at the No. 6 overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft. It is 100% guaranteed that one of Schaefer, Misa, Hagens, Frondell, Desnoyers, and Martone will fall to the Flyers. They will get a star, but who is the ideal pick?

Philly Hockey Now: The choices and range for the Flyers at the No. 22 pick are much wider. Many more players become an option once you get to the mid-to-late first-round pick. We’ve discussed the ideal pick at No. 6 overall, now let’s rank potential No. 22 options.

NHL Trade Rumors and News

Seravalli: Late Tuesday evening, Frank Seravalli broke the news that the Anaheim Ducks and New York Rangers were in advanced talks in a trade centered around Rangers’ forward Chris Kreider.

Kreider, 34, is coming off his worst season to date. The Rangers are rumored to have acquired an “American prospect and a pick” as well as offloading all $6.5 million of Kreider’s contract. Casey Terrance, the captain of the Erie Otters and Ducks ’23 second-round pick, is rumored to be the prospect.

This is now the second time the Ducks have taken on an aging Rangers veteran. Both times, they have given up way too much. First, the Ducks acquired Jacob Trouba in a mid-season deal. Now, Chris Kreider is likely on his way to Orange County.

Mirtle: According to James Mirtle, the Toronto Maple Leafs could be extending both Matthew Knies and John Tavares in the next two weeks. If both players are extended, it very well could close the door on a Mitch Marner return.

Friedman: Remember those Jason Robertson rumors? Well, Elliotte Friedman has confirmed that the Stars could shop their, well, star, to give them cap relief so they can extend *record scratch* Mikael Granlund?

National Hockey Now

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Is something wrong in Pittsburgh? Could they be destined for an eternal rebuild? Dan Kingerski writes why he thinks the Pittsburgh Penguins might be stuck.

Montreal Hockey Now: Lane Hutson won the Calder Trophy, and yes, it is well earned. While Matvei Michkov might have been snubbed from being a finalist, Hutson deserved the nod and has now set the bar high for another Habs rookie.
