Time for another edition of the PhHN Daily! On the 6/14 edition, we look at another draft prospect, talk about the ideal draft selection, and touch on what one anonymous NHL scout had to say about a prospect.

Around the league, big names are being talked about and will have heavy implications on the offseason. And, as always, we check in on our friends around the NHN network.

Get it all in the PhHN Daily!

Philadelphia Flyers

Philly Hockey Now: As we inch closer and closer to the 2025 NHL Draft, we keep analyzing the draft class. We have already done an analysis video on James Hagens. Now, let’s take a deeper look at Porter Martone.

PhHN+: Speaking of Martone, our latest for Philly Hockey Now plus subscribers has us ranking the most ideal picks for the Flyers at No. 6 overall come June 27th.

Elite Prospects: “He just looks like a Flyer–I could see them taking him.” – An anonymous NHL scout in May, 2025. This comes from the Elite Prospects 2025 Draft guide, to which they were talking about… drumroll please… Justin Carbonneau, a speedy and powerful winger with the skills and tools to be successful in the NHL. He could be in play at No. 22.

NHL Trade Rumors and News

Strickland: Andy Strickland has reported that superstar winger Mitch Marner WILL NOT be returning to Toronto this offseason. Marner had yet to close the door on the Leafs, but it seems as contract talks hit a stalemate, and he is already two feet out of the door.

To continue on with Marner: Elliotte Friedman mentioned yesterday that if Marner were to not return to the Leafs, he is likely headed to a Western Conference team, despite some Eastern Conference clubs being a great fit and aggressive in pursuit of his services.

Friedman: Friedman also reported that the New York Rangers are going to become aggressive this offseason. On the 32 Thoughts Podcast, he said that if New York whiffs on Marner, Bennett, and Ehlers, they could look at offer sheets.

It seems that missing the playoffs has caused a lot of change for the Rangers.

Seravalli: Frank Seravalli stated on DFO Live that it’s a “coin flip” on whether the Stars will trade Jason Robertson, and that it has to be for the right offer. Maybe the Robertson trade murmurs are coming to a close.

National Hockey Now

Boston Hockey Now: Trade! We got a trade! The slow NHL offseason is starting to heat up! While it is no Chris Kreider trade, the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks struck up a deal involving a former first-round pick.

Chicago Hockey Now: Hey, Flyers fans! We all know that the draft does not start until Chicago is on the clock. What they do with the No. 3 pick will drastically change the Flyers’ draft night plans. Greg Boysen answers draft questions in his latest Q&A.

Montreal Hockey Now: A veteran NHLer and a Stanley Cup Champion is back on the market. The Habs need depth at center, but do they make sense for this former star?

Mailbag Time!

It’s time for our next PhHN Mailbag, and this time, we’re focusing solely on the 2025 NHL Draft! If you have any questions you’d like answered in the next mailbag, please leave them in the comments below.
