NHL Draft: Flyers Select Porter Martone 6th Overall

The Philadelphia Flyers have selected Porter Martone, a winger from the Brampton Steelheads, with the 6th overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.
With Brady Martin going at No. 5 to Nashville, it left the board exactly how the Flyers wanted it. The Flyers had to make the tough decision between Martone and Boston College centerman James Hagens, but ultamatley, the Flyers landed on the best player available.
Martone tallied 37 goals and 61 assists for 98 points in the OHL this season. He also played for the Canadian World Juniors team, as well as the men’s World Championships team alongside Travis Konecny.
Martone is a big, physical, talented winger with a scoring touch unlike any other. He also mentioned his Flyers fandom as a kid on the TV broadcast, mentioning his Claude Giroux poster and Flyers jersey growing up.
The Flyers still have two picks remaining in the first round, Nos. 22 and 31. Their night is not over.
Welcome to Philadelphia, Porter.

What are the plans for Martone next season? Will we see him with the Phantoms? When does he project to be with the big club?
Probably go back to juniors for a year. After that a season with the Phantoms and then a Flyer in October of 2027.
Unsure with Martone. He’s a really interesting case. I think it’ll probably be camp, try and make the team, if not, back to Brampton.
Of course, NCAA is always an option. I had a VERY trustworthy source tell me about a lucrative NIL package offered to him by PSU, so maybe he goes to Happy Valley.
Perhaps Martone and Misa will be Lions next year, for one year and a NCAA Championship.
We Are.
