Flyers Busy to Open Free Agency; Agree on Two One-Year Deals

The Philadelphia Flyers kicked off NHL Free Agency with a busy start.
According to Elliote Friedman, the Flyers and UFA center Christian Dvorak have agreed to a one-year deal worth $5.4 million.
Dvorak, 29, is coming off a 33-point season with the Montreal Canadiens where he scored 12 goals and 21 assists.
The 6’1” centerman played all 82 games last season for the Habs.
Dvorak is a defensive center who is a solid forechecker. I don’t see him sneaking into Philly’s top-nine, which means they have found their stop-gap center.
I can’t say I am a huge fan of paying a fourth-line guy $5.4 million, so maybe the team has other plans. We can only wait and see.
Flyers Give Noah Juulsen a One-Year Deal
Per Rick Dhaliwal, the Flyers have agreed to a one-year, $900,000 deal with 28 year old right-shot defenseman Noah Juulsen.
In 35 games with Vancouver last season, Juulsen did not register a point, and had a rating of -12.
This screams Ristolainen insurance policy to me. The Flyers already have three-to-four RHD, so that was not really a need.
Juulsen will likely be the seventh defenseman at best. Once Ristolainen returns, Juulsen could very well end up in Lehigh Valley.
This should not be the last defensive signing Briere makes.

Nothing exciting here. Not renewing ticket package on these moves.
Well, later on in the season, when a contending team is hurting for a Center, the Flyers flip Dvorak, with money retained for a future 1st rd pick?!
Just saw goalie Daniel “Darth” Vladar was signed. Career save % .895, although that was with Calgary.
Tocc knows them both,
..Dvorak at Arizona with him and Juulsen as a Canuck.
5.4 million for a 4th line center is a massive overpay. Would have much preferred Pius Suter on a two year deal. Heard on NHL network on Sirius that Shabanov will probably sign with the Flyers or the Isles
