Philadelphia Flyers
Report: Tyson Foerster Suffered an Upper-Body Injury

Well, if you follow the various Flyers news outlets, you’ve likely seen Anthony SanFilippo teasing “something big” coming in.
Well, that time has finally come.
SanFilippo has reported that Tyson Foerster suffered a bicep injury, which the team fears could keep him out for an extended period of time.
He used the phrase “recently”, so it’s safe to assume that this did not occur at the Men’s World Championships.
SanFilippo reported that Foerster flew to Vancouver to see a specialist, and are hoping for the best. A source told SanFilippo that things are not looking good. Lastly, he reported that without much knowledge, Foerster could miss upwards to three months.
It was unclear is he meant three months of the season or three months total. If the injury requires surgery, most bicep surgery’s average 4-6 months recovery time.
With that, the signing of Christian Dvorak makes all the more sense. Agreeing to a one-year deal worth $5.4 million seemed like an overpay. However, can can legitimately play LW, so he could very well be a Foerster replacement.
With Foerster likely out to begin the year, it looks like the immediate plan has changed. The Flyers will likely be without their young rising star to begin the season.
UPDATE
During his media availability on Tuesday, Flyers GM Danny Briere told reporters that Foerster suffered an injury at Worlds. He then said it became infected in his elbow, which required surgery to remove.
There’s no guarantee that it was all removed, which is where the big question lays. For now, it becomes a wait and see game.
Briere mentioned 2025 6th overall pick Porter Martone, prized prospect Alex Bump, or Devin Kaplan as possible replacements for Foerster.

Fantastic. Just the news we needed. Why us?,
Downside: Foerster is out for the beginning of the season.
Upside: It’s not like it’s Michkov, and it opens up space for Shabomov and Martone to play more.
There is nothing that Brier has done today that should impede Martone from making the roster and playing, and the same for Shabanov (assuming we sign him and he can come over).
Next man up…maybe Maxim Shabanov
You know, it takes such effort and perseverance to be a fan of this team.
Understand …rumor has it, Foerster may have picked up an infection overseas in the world competition which he played in after the season. So not sure what the real truth is on his condition and /or his bicep issue which may have been a minor imjury that may have got infected..
Maybe it will be an injury plagued season and just improve odds of landing McKenna?! Hell yeah!
I am on another train….. 6’4″ center Ryan Roobroeck, of the Niagara Ice Dogs.
Maxim Shabanov signs with the Isles……another chance down the drain.
