Trade buzz picked up a little bit on Thursday, leading to some interesting chatter.

In other news, one insider has quite a prediction for the Flyers. One that would make fans quite happy.

Philly Hockey Now: ICYMI, the Flyers have released their regular season schedule for the 2025-26 season. If you’re planning road trips or just trying to figure out which home games you want to go to, now is the time! Check out the full schedule.

Johnston: On Off the Post, NHL insider Chris Johnston said that he does not see the Flyers being content with another lottery season. Johnston says he does not see the Flyers “just sitting on their hands” and predicts they’ll be active as the season goes along.
Interesting take from Johnston. I’m not entirely sure if the Flyers will be aggressive early in the season. However, if by February/March they are still within reach of a playoff spot, I can see Briere making a push to get the Flyers to the postseason.

Seravalli: Going back a few days, Frank Seravalli noted that Mason McTavish is a name to watch moving forward. Seravalli suggests that Anaheim has been tough on McTavish; “Real solid player that has been beaten down by a lot of losses in Anaheim.
McTavish has yet to sign an extension and remains an RFA.
Johnston: With more on McTavish, Chris Johnston said on the Steve Dangle podcast that McTavish has all of the leverage. He does not have to take any old offer. Johnston also mentions that he does not believe that the relationship has necessarily gone bad in Anaheim.
TRADE: A trade took place on Thursday, as the Toronto Maple Leafs acquired forward Dakota Joshua in exchange for a 2028 4th Round Pick.
Blue Jackets: Forward Yegor Chinakhov has publicly requested a trade via his agency. The agency said Chinakhov had a misunderstanding with the coach and no longer wishes to play in Columbus. While the preference is to remain in the NHL, Chinakhov’s agency said he is not opposed to a return to Russia.
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: The Penguins have two big trade assets on their team, but what could they get in return for their two forwards? Rickard Rakell and Bryan Rust may be some of the hottest names on the market. Our friends over at PHN took a stab at gauging their trade value.

Perhaps an Owen Tippett, Alex Bump and a 2nd round ’26 pick, may persuade Verbeek on McTavish. An expensive offering, but the need for a solid center is imperative.
That is hefty , I am not fan of trading either player , very good feeling on Bump. Tippett needs and deserves to get year with better players, which I believe raises his game and 30 goal scorer. Brink, Konecny , excess younger D plus 2027 and or 28 combo if 2-4th round picks
Trading Konecny would be moronic and I doubt that gets McTavish a former 3rd overall Center with size and Physicality who is still young and also just had a pretty good breakout season on a team full of nobodies and a coach as bad or worse then Tortorella. Leafs 2027 1st, a 2026 2nd, and a roster player like Tippet would be about the asking price. Possibly with a mid-tier prospect like Emil Andrae or a young player like Brink on top of that. I believe Tippet and Brink, Leafs 2027 1st, and a 2026 2nd or 3rd get it done. And although it may look like an overpay McTavish or Necas are basically the only age appropriate elite caliber Centers available right now for the right price of course. But either would give another option at Center to play with Michkov along with Zegras and give Couturier easier matches down the lineup.
I’d offer up Tippet, Brink, a couple 2nd round Picks and or Leafs 2027 1st rounder or a similar package for McTavish. Necas from Colorado would also fit in very well in the Flyers top6.
Flyers should be ALL OVER Mason McTavish or Martin Necas if they both really want a change of scenery. McTavish would be a steal and bring a skillet and an elite potential ceiling The Flyers are currently lacking in their prospect pool at Center. Martin Necas would also be a huge steal for The Flyers.
