Flyers Legend Bernie Parent Dies at Age 80
The Philadelphia Flyers are mourning the loss of franchise legend Bernie Parent.
Parent was an original Flyer, debuting with the team in its inaugural season in 1967. He made his NHL debut for the Boston Bruins in 1965, and spent some time with the Toronto Maple Leafs as well as the Flyers.
Parent is a two-time Stanley Cup champion (‘74,’75), a two-time Conn Smythe winner (‘75, ‘75), as well as a two-time Vezina Trophy winner (‘74, ‘75), and a two-time NHL All Star (‘74, ‘75). The Flyers legend will forever be enshrined in the Hockey Hall of Fame, inducted in 1984. Parent was in the inaugural Flyers Hall of Fame class
Off the ice, Parent’s reach went far through his involvement with Ed Snyder Youth Hockey & Education.
