Philadelphia Flyers
Philly Hockey Now: Should he stay or should he go? The Flyers are on the clock with a decision to make. Which defensemen will get sent down or waived when Cam York returns to action? There are options, but it should not be Emil Andrae.
Speaking of Andrae, he knows he has a small window to prove he belongs in the NHL over some of the Flyers’ other defensemen. The window could be small, putting a lot of pressure on the young blueliner, but he knows that pressure is a privilege.
Philly picked up its first win of the season on Monday, in a game in which captain Sean Couturier showed flashes of the player he was before injury. Couturier was not the only Flyer to stand out in their 5-2 win over the Panthers in the home opener.
NHL Rumors and News
Could the clock be ticking in Buffalo? Jeff Marek speculates that players could be asking out sooner rather than later. With the Flyers in need of defensive help, this could be one to keep an eye on.
ESPN: Matthew Tkachuk is already out for a good portion of this season after surgery to repair a torn adductor. Now, his brother Brady is expected to miss some time. Brady Tkachuk is expected to be out for at least a month with a right-hand injury. If he requires surgery, it could be even longer for the Senators’ star.
Montreal Hockey Now: It feels like a new theme where NHL teams pass on an uber-talented Russian prospect, causing a slip, just for the prospect to come over sooner than expected. Well, in just his sixth NHL game, Ivan Demidov, whom Montreal selected after he slipped in the draft, stole the show. Again, the future in Montreal looks brighter and brighter each day.
San Jose Hockey Now: Michael Misa made his highly anticipated NHL debut Tuesday night against Carolina. How did the No. 2 overall pick from 2025 do in his first NHL game?
