The Philadelphia Flyers went quiet during their 2-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night. Tyson Foerster put the Flyers on the board less than 30 seconds into the game. However, for the next 59:30, the Flyers would be held scoreless, with the offense going dormant.

Around the league, we’ve got a heavyweight tilt, a classic sweater showdown, two young teams showing out, and Cooley has four points just 10:55 into their game.

Get it all on the 10/24 edition of the PhHN Daily.

Philadelphia Flyers

Philly Hockey Now: The Flyers’ offense went quiet in the team’s 2-1 loss in Ottawa against the Senators. Goaltending and penalty killing kept the Flyers in position to win the game all night, but the offense could not buy a goal on Thursday.

Owen Tippett’s name was floated around in early-season trade rumors. But Elliotte Friedman says (in my best Lee Corso voice): Not so fast, my friend.

Thursday night aside, the Flyers have actually been better than expected to start the new season. What have we learned about the team so far?

Lastly, our old friend Sam Carchidi has written a book! ‘Bullies’ explores some never-before-told stories about the colorful Philadelphia Flyers teams that once dominated the NHL – and caused the league to rewrite its rulebook. Check out an excerpt from the book, provided by Carchidi!

NHL Rumors and News

Colorado vs. Carolina had a new (old) look last night. Instead of Avalanche vs Hurricanes, it was Nordiques vs Whalers in Colorado Thursday night—a matchup of some of the best classic sweaters in the league. A late goal pushed the game to overtime, and then they went to the shootout, where the Whalers, I mean Hurricanes, would win it—time to queue Brass Bonanza.

In all honesty, I’d sign a petition requiring these two teams to wear their throwbacks against each other.

We got a heavyweight tilt in Thursday night’s slate. Ryan Reaves and Matt Rempe dropped the gloves and took center stage at Madison Square Garden. Two of the biggest fighters in the league going at it. It’s a must-watch.

San Jose Hockey Now: Speaking of that NYR vs SJS game, it was a night to remember for San Jose. The Sharks got their first win of the season, Macklin Celebrini had a hat trick, and yes, Ryan Warofsky still has all of his children.

Chicago Hockey Now: Speaking of young teams, the Chicago Blackhawks are on a roll! With their late-game win on Thursday, the Hawks have now won four of their last five games. It was a goal with 54 seconds remaining that would put Chicago on top Thursday night.

In other news. Logan Cooley is SICK. The Mammouth’s young star had the first natural hat trick in franchise history, and it only took him 4:48 in on ice time to do so.

Utah would win the game 7-4 in St. Louis. Cooley is setting himself up for a nice payday.
